Impression Sunrise By Georges Seurat Analysis

The four painters I am choosing to discuss are: Claude Monet, Georges Seurat, Pablo Picasso, and Vincent van Gogh. Claude Monet was a famous French painter born on November 14, 1840(“Claude Monet”). His painting style centered more on light and form than realism, and was called impressionism. Monet showed an interest in drawing at an early age. He drew caricatures of his teachers. Eugene Boudin introduced him to painting outdoors which contributed greatly in Monet’s work. He was known for repainting the same object, at different parts of the day to capture the lighting at different angles and how it affected the way the object looked. One of Claude Monet’s Most famous paintings’ is the ‘Impression, sunrise’. This painting is famous for creating the term impressionism. The impressionist movement became so popular that it had spread to some forms of music and literature also. If you make a black and white copy of ‘Impression, Sunrise’ the sun disappears almost completely from the painting. He is best Known for creating the pointillist method of painting, also called neo-impressionism. This type of painting used small strokes of color that seemed as if they blended when viewing the painting from far away. One of his most famous paintings is called ‘A Sunday on La Grande Jatte’. It took him more than 2 years to complete this painting. “A Sunday on La Grande Jatte’ is one of the most beautiful paintings I have ever seen. The Faces on the people cannot be seen clearly, and this gives a sense of mystery. The time period is also shown in this painting through the types of clothes the people were wearing. The way the sun reflects their off of them creating their shadows is very impressive. His painting style tricked the human eye into blending the colors making them seem as
