In The legend of Sleepy Hollow the story takes place in Sleepy Hollow in New York. Sleepy Hollow is a very small and quiet town. It is said that the town is under some kind of enchantment. Its residents all seem to move a little slower, daydream a little more, and be more prone to believe in the supernatural. The characters start with Diedrich Knickerbocker, the narrator of this short story. Next is Ichabod Crane. Ichabod is the itinerant school teacher of Sleepy Hollow. He was described to be very tall with narrow shoulders and long arms that dangle out of his sleeves. His feet were so large they could’ve served as shovels. He also had a small flat head with large ears and a long snipe nose. The next character Katrina Van Tassel was the daughter and only child of …show more content…
He was known for his horsemanship, his physical strength, and his love of pranks. He was also known for his boisterous personality. And the last character, The Headless Horseman, the spirit of a Hessian soldier, a legendary figure said to haunt Sleepy Hollow. It is said that he lost his head from a cannon during the revolutionary war. He is most likely seen riding by the church where local historians believe he was buried. In the plot of the story, Katrina Van Tassel was 18 years old and was a very beautiful young woman. Ichabod starts to like her but after seeing her father’s abundant farm he considers himself to be truly in love with her. He tries pretty hard to win her hand in marriage because of Katrina’s beauty, charm, and wealth it entrances many other men in the village. Brom Van Brunt (Brom Bones) is also in the competition for Katrina Van Tassel. Brom Bones is a very jealous guy and has already scared off many of Katrina’s other admirers. It is harder for him to scare off Ichabod because of his avoidance of physical confrontation which is Brom’s best method of
