George Milton Archetype

George Milton, a character from the book “Of Mice of Men” who in my opinion is a hero archetype. The hero archetype is a character who battles evil and helps the nature of good. He fits this archetype well because throughout the whole book he helps Lennie and kinda tries to lead him to the right path. He watches over Lennie and tries to keep him out of trouble. I choose this character because he seemed nice and different than other characters. He helped Lennie but eventually had to do what was best for them both and choose the best way out. He never did anything wrong throughout the book he treated everyone good who treated him well. He went through a lot with Lennie from leaving their home and jobs and having to travel a lot. First i’m going to compare him to President Snow from the “The Hunger Games”. Snow wanted power to the bigger districts so he gave them more although both George and Snow are smart, Snow wanted power and wanted to rule over the other districts he used his skills for bad where as George no matter what he did he wanted the best for everyone(imdb.com). Another person you can compare or contrast George to is Abraham Lincoln. Abraham was an American Dreamer he sought to help slavery and help the United States, he helped so many people(biography.com). George helped Lennie and watched out for him yes he didn’t help thousands but he wanted what was best for Lennie and him. For their different reasons, they both can be considered heroes but like I said Lincoln can be considered other things as well. Another is the Joker, the Joker is a villain he doesn't want to help anyone just cause pain and misery. George is the exact opposite, he doesn’t want to hurt anyone or cause pain he wants to help if anything. Same way he has always helped Lennie he worries about himself and Lennie and try to make the best situation for both of them. That's how George can be considered a hero by comparing him and contrasting him to other characters with different

After reading this novella I still believe George was a good friend because he did it for the obvious reason to not hurt Lennie. In the book George shows his friendship when he always tried to look out for Lennie's well being whether he liked it or not. For example, when George took the dead mouse away from Lennie, he only did that because he didn't want Lennie to get sick from the diseases the mouse could have carried diseases (Steinbeck Page 6). Another thing…

I think George loves Lennie like a brother. From the things George does to keep Lennie safe we can infer that George is selfless, sympathetic, and patient. I personally loved the way Steinbeck used Lennie to develop characters around him. The way Steinbeck used three characters so vitaly in the novela, “Of mice and men”, to be shaped around Lennie was amazing. George showed he had come along way from where he began, Candy stays true to himself, and Curly is a stuck up prick.…
