Mad Max: Not Your Average Action Film
Mad Max: Fury Road directed and written by George Miller, is not your average action movie; it is the grandest of grand action movies. The film is fantastically crazy, chaotic, fast paced, and portrays a driven message with outstanding visuals. George Miller revamps the franchise with a brilliant writing and direction. Furiosa has a lot more lines than Max, and the film really revolves around her and the wives. This was an important film for women, because it broke the norm of a nearly all male front cast. The women were well developed and strong, and there wasn't a focus on the fact that Furiosa was a woman which humanized her. Furiosa is a rebel, with a shaven head and a prosthetic arm, fighting for freedom for her and the wives. Furiosa was not the only well developed women, all the wives had their own personalities as well. For example Capable played by Riley Keough, is the most compassionate, and free spirited. Cheedo played by Courtney Eaton is fragile, and scared of what's going on but perseveres. Dag played by Abbey Lee, throws insults around, is snarky and intuitive, and finally Toast the Knowing played by Zoe Kravitz, an intelligent, bold women tasked with inventory on guns and ammo. The wives are all very distinct looking each unique just like their personalities. This made the female characters feel more authentic and multi dimensional. In fact the wives had a very important role in the message of female empowerment, expressing the message that women are not objects for men, writing “we are not things” on the walls of their room after they escaped immortan joe. It's a very basic message, but it's still a strong message in support of equality upholding female empowerment. The wives …show more content…
Yes there were seconds that were a little dull, with cars chasing, blowing up, but it's honestly only some lone seconds. The movie does not neglect dialog or emotion at all, it is one of the few action movies i've seen where I cried multiple times (even after watching it three times). Overall there is a good balance between the action, dialogue, and emotional scenes. Not to mention the points talked about earlier that made this movie

The action sequences are fairly well done, but they range from 'that could have been done better' to just being downright badass. The sounds are fantastic and they will never let you forget what a dinosaur roaring in your face sounds like. The music score fits in well with the movie and the slow, piano tribute to the '93 Jurassic Park soundtrack is chilling.…

Just in the first chapter it talks about talented, educated women being trapped in a society that viewed marriage and motherhood as their primary goal. A result of the book was focusing attention to another gap in American rhetoric and American reality. Abby Kelley was one woman who felt that women were being treated like the African Americans. “ There seem to be many parallels that can be drawn between the treatment of Negroes and the treatment of women in our society as a whole.”. One of the first public campaigns of the radical feminists was the repeal of state laws that underscored women’s lack of self-determination by banning abortions or leaving it up to the physicians to decide whether a pregnancy could be terminated.…

It is a guide for women to break out of their comfort zone of just being a housewife who obey their husbands. This book goes against “the Ohio Supreme Court, [which] held that a wife was ‘at most a superior servant to her husband’” (Foner, 1004). I also believe that the reason why this novel was so popular was because it gave a different perspective to women. It also was a big push toward a feminist movement that occurred during the 1960’s.…

In conclusion, there are ample amounts of social commentary within Fahrenheit 451, Neuromancer and Mad Max: Fury Runner; the censorship of burning books within Fahrenheit, the corruption within Neuromancer, and the warning of the power hungry in Fury Runner. Ray, William and George, the creators of these works of art, skillfully crafted worlds to display and warn of those societies. Societies where there are only limitations and suppressions. Within such civilizations, there will be those who stand above the rest. Just as the main characters do in each work of art.…

Logan is a 2017 Marvel comic-adaptation that strips away the conventional superhero film characteristics, the twists and turns of the X-Men franchise, to revolve around one of Marvel’s most famous superhero, Wolverine. Flawlessly merging both Marvel and Western mythology, director James Mangold has created an emotionally and symbolically significant element, one that focuses on Hugh Jackman’s adaptation of a declining and shriveled hero. The dystopian film, set in 2029, is incredibly desolate, and even more-so violent; yet, the protagonist rises to the spotlight when his child, Laura, becomes his unwillingly responsibility, a scene that finds itself a fair level of significance towards the developing plot. The film has seamlessly immersed the…
