I am writing to appeal my academic termination from George Mason University. I am aware that I could not maintain satisfactory grades in the spring semester. I am very upset to receive an email informing me of the termination. I know that it is my fault and I take full responsibility. However, I urge you to reconsider me for next semester.
I regretfully state that my wife and I had very difficult time because of financial problems after we moved to Fairfax in last August for my PhD education from Clemson where I graduated. After 18 years of education I learned that there is no excuse for poor academic performance. However, I would like to explain circumstances and the cause of my poor academic performance, which happened for the first time ever in my education life. Our plan was to spend our saving until my wife would find a job. I successfully completed my first semester at GMU without any financial problem. I thought that my wife would find a job until January or February the time our saving would run out of. However, my wife could not find a job and worst thing happened during her unemployment period and her grandmother and grandfather passed away in two month during her unemployment period and made her depressed. Because of the financial problems, we could not go to Turkey for the funeral. Due of the financial difficulties and loss of our lovely family members-, needless to say, I was very distracted with the home situation and was unable to focus on my schoolwork even I was at the school.
