For the next decade, he would produce number one albums which included, Strait from the Heart in 1982, Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind in 1984, Something Special in 1985, Ocean Front Property in 1987, and Beyond the Blue Neon in 1989. These albums were either certified platinum or multi-platinum. Ocean Front Property, his ninth album, hit the number one spot on billboards country music charts, the first album to do so in history. He received male vocalist of the year award for three consecutive years in 1984 to 1986 and again in 1988.
In 1986, George Strait’s daughter, Jenifer, was killed in an automobile accident that killed her on impact. George, Norma and their five year old son set up The Jenifer Lynn Foundation in her honor that still goes on today.
In 1989, George Strait was named the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year which he also received in 1990. In 1991, he starred in the movie The Solider.
