George Grant Research Paper

George Grant is one of the most unannounced, underrated person in African American History. Son of slaves, George Franklin Grant was the first African American Professor at Harvard University. In Oswego, New York; his hometown; Grants first job was working in a dental office as an errands boy, to then become a lab assistant. This job, later pushed/ influenced him to be a dentist becoming one of the first blacks to ever attend Harvard Dental School. Progressing, Grant received his dental degree in 1870 becoming the first faculty member at Harvard, to which he served 19 years on the job. After a while this method became very time-consuming and very messy to say the least. As time passed, people used something called a golf terry in which was similar to the golf tee, but the only difference was the golf terry had a cupped shaped head. To better explain this statement the golf tee that we used today, originally had the design of a tubular shaped head and aa wooden spike perfectly describing the gold tee. An known fact about Grant was that he loved to play golf. It is within this sport Grant showed his love for physics and interest in hanging out with his friends in which he would perform experiments relating to physics in front of his friends. Combining his love of gulf, physics and dentistry, Grant created one of the most used tools in sports. George Franklin Grant became famous off of his many dental inventions in which had to deal with clift palitations. One of his inventions that had to deal with dentistry was the oblate plate. The oblate plate was a prosthetic device in which would help future dental clients with speaking more normally due to congenital cleft palates or a split in the top lip. An entrepreneur is known to combine all of the factors of production, ft. labor, capital, and land to then make profit. When explained and entrepreneur is supposed to work with the: Land or natural resources that he/she may have which defines, Labor or Cope and analyze the invention they have in their brain to then put it on paper and make the prototype or pay the workers, Capital or which includes human capital and physical capital. Physical capital is the money to back up the invention or the place where the product is being produced ex: machines. Human capital being the human knowledge and experiences for creating the business or invention ex:) degrees.
