Of Mice and Men essay
I think that George and Lennie from Of Mice and Men have a better relationship than Romeo and Juliet because George protected Lennie on multiple occasions, George was able to find him and Lennie a job when it was hard to find open jobs, and George only killed Lennie because it was the most humane choice he had.
My first reason is because George was able to find both of them a job, even though it was very hard to find a job and Lennie was mentally disabled. This is shown when George successfully gets them a job at the ranch even after being chased out of Weed after Lennie grabbed the girl's dress. That would have made finding a job difficult, however George was still able to get them a job even though he had to lie a bit. On pages 21 and 22, we see this when the boss asks about Lennie not being much of a talker. “‘He ain’t much of a talker, is he?’ ‘No, he ain’t, but he’s sure a hell of a good worker. Strong as a bull.’” (Pg 21-22). This is proof that George wants to help Lennie find a job with him.

On page 98, he tried to reason with Curley in order to spare Lennie’s life by telling him “I’ll come. But listen, Curley... Don't shoot ‘im. He di’n’t know what he was doin’.” (pg 98).
