GEL 101 How does taking GEL 101 impact a college career and insure college readiness at Cal State, San Marcos? GEL, thought to be a breeze for freshman, made me have a new outlook and experience towards college. At first I took the class for an easy A, but came to realize that it has help me more than any other class I took. As an incoming freshman I was not prepared for the sleepless nights in attempting to keep up with homework and friends. GEL is a resource that helped me prepare for college and learn my strengths. GEL is a great resource as a freshman because the teachers are there to answer the question that other teacher found “stupid”. GEL showed me how to create my own resume and cover letter. Naming my weaknesses was always a breeze, but determining my strengths seemed nearly impossible. Coming into college I did not know what were my strengths and always felt my weaknesses overpowered them. Taking GEL showed me that the weaknesses I have can be used to my advantage. I learn that the skills I have can be used in interviews to show that I can become a valuable member to them. Understanding my strengths and weaknesses help me define and improve myself. GEL offered me the support that high school could not provide. High school never taught me about the environment or struggles of the real world. When coming out of high I was completely clueless about college and worried that I would fail. GEL truly transition me from a high school to college life. GEL supported me through my first semester and showed me that I am capable of making it through college. Through my determination of becoming a “better me” I focused my efforts in this class, not because of getting a good great, but to gain experience for the future. GEL is worth the time and truly benefited myself and my outcome.
GEL impacted my life and showed me through my hard work that I am capable of surviving college. College is like a roller coaster, it seems fun at first, but once you are on it is scary as hell. GEL eliminated most of the fear and helped me prepare for the
