Ancient Phoenicia was near the water, which made it the ideal location for a trading hub. It was north of Canaan which is modern day is Palestine and the coastal area of modern day Gaza.This allowed Phoenicia to expand into a civilization that lasted for one thousand five hundred years and flourish into an empire. Its ocean the Mediterranean had access from the middle east all the way to Europe. Its natural resources also allowed Phoenicia to discover purple dye and good wood for shipbuilding.
