Cuba is an island in the northern hemisphere that is 90 miles south of Key West, Florida. It lies between the Caribbean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the entrance to the Gulf of Mexico.
Cuba is also the largest island in the Caribbean Sea and the 17th largest island in the world. It is 760 miles long and 55 miles wide. Some of its neighboring islands are Haiti, the Bahamas, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. The coordinates of Cuba are 21.5218oN, 77.79812oW.

They are located in southeastern Cuba. They extend from Cape Cruz to Gulf of Guacanayabo to Guantanamo River Valley. The mountain range has the highest point of the island, Pico Turquino, at 6.590 feet. This area is very green and forestry with many unusual and colorful birds, owls, frogs and butterflies. The Sierra de los Órganos mountain range located in western Cuba is about 40 miles long. They are low range hills that still have Mesozoic marine limestone. . Other mountain ranges are the Sierra Crystal in the southeast, the Escambray Mountains in the central area, and the Sierra del Rosario in the northwest.
Cuba’s largest natural freshwater lake is Laguna de Leche at 25.9sq miles. It contains largemouth bass of all sizes. It is located in the northern part of Ciego de Avila Province. The lake is a natural habitat for the Caribbean flamingo. Cuba has around nearly 200 small rivers as well as many narrow streams that dry in the summer. After the revolution and Castro, tourism was practically gone from the island. In 1990, Cuba began to see tourism as a way to flourish the economy. Havana, the capital and Varadero Beach, the most beautiful beach in the world, attract the highest amount of people, about 70% of the tourism revenue. The 1980-1990, the sugar industry provided 70%-75% of Cuba’s income and tourism was only 6%. After 1990, Cuba is now the second most popular tourist destination. Health tourism is another major industry sector. Visitors come from Europe to receive medical treatment. According to Economy Watch,this sector generates over $40K in annual revenue.
