In the United States hospital systems, there is a limit on the diversity of employment. Many employees of higher positions, such as managers and executives, are Caucasian and there are very few minorities who are in these positions. As hospitals grow and the number of patients increases, so does the diversity of the patients. Because of that, the number of minorities who serve positions in hospitals require growth. The more minorities in a location require a higher demand of minorities to be employed in healthcare facilities. It is imperative to have diversity in hospitals because patients need someone who can relate to them on a cultural and ethnic level. It is also imperative to know the variation of people in regions because the lack of minorities accounts to why there may be few or no minorities who have positions in hospital management. As the population of minorities continue to increase so does the participation of minorities in the health care field. Minorities must engage in educating themselves to become aware of the need for their employment in healthcare, learn how they can be involved in healthcare, and find ways to improve the healthcare environment. When applying for positions in health care, minorities have a harder time getting the position because of competition, therefore, minorities need more qualifications than those who are not considered minorities in order to have a better chance a getting the job. To decrease the competition for employment, minorities should meet all requirements, qualifications, and have some achievements in order have better chances for getting a health care
