The Epic of Gilgamesh was written over 4100 years ago and is an epic that is still relevant to life in the 21st Century. There are multiple reasons for this, such as the characters, the topics, and the themes addressed in the story. The main theme at this point of the story was: your worst enemies can one day be your best friends. This is very true because, in real life, many of our best friends were once our worst enemies, and the hate that once tied us together slowly morphs into mutual respect, or love.…

Friendship is one of the major themes in The Book Thief. To start with, trust and support are what defines friendship. An example of this is when Hans returns the favour to Erik, Max’s father, for saving him back in the war by helping to hide Max, a Jew, from the Nazi’s. This example proves, trust and support can be the key to a healthy relationship because without these two skills, the person who is struggling will feel helpless and closed off. Despite growing up in a rough neighborhood in Boston, having a lack of formal education and currently working as a janitor, the main character Will is a mathematical genius. While on the surface the movie is about this unlikely boy genius with unlimited potential, who can outsmart MIT professors while constantly being dragged down by his attitude and poor decisions, the story is in fact much deeper. Rather it is about Will’s personal emotional journey which he embarks on during this film. This journey of Will’s dates back from his years of emotional trauma that took place during his childhood, which included being abandoned by his…
