Genie: A Brief Narrative Fiction

All of Rains life she has known her Genie as her guardian. Anything and everything Rain needed Genie was there, he was her “parents”. Rain didn’t recall much about her actual parents but she was told they had passed away when she was 3yrs old.
Rain is now 15, she attends Bayside High School and comes home to her Genie, that’s normal life for her. Until now, everything is going in a downward spiral. Her grades were down, and Genie was not thrilled. As they argued over a algebra, Rain was furious, and knocked over Genie’s lamp, and as the lamp disappeared, so did Genie. She had to get him back. And before her eyes, was Genie. Without any thought she ran. Her heart was racing, she wanted to have him back by her side, now. As he turned the corner she saw a man and woman that appeared to be dressed in all black suits. They grabbed him and hustled. Rain didn’t see much of the figures, but she ran as fast as humanly possible. As she turned the corner, Genie was nowhere to be seen. Rain felt as if she’d had everything and it was ripped away from her in a matter of seconds. She should’ve used her powers, but she was still unsure of her capabilities. Still bolting, she arrived in the hotel lobby hoping that Genie and these figures would be held up there. But no, they were out of sight completely. Rain was most definitely NOT giving up this time, she had enough of these chancy games. She asked the tall man behind the front desk and he claimed they left in a black SUV. That was it! Rain thought. She could use her powers to trace down and teleport to that vehicle! Just as she was about to start reciting a spell the sky outside turned gray, the wind was howling, and blue and purple lightning strikes filled the area. Rain knew.
