Would a person knowingly feed their family foods that are not safe for them, no! Foods should be left natural with no genetically modified organism (GMO). These are not natural and therefore is not healthy for the human body. The environment is being affected by processed foods that people are not aware of being processed, due to them not being labeled. It is destroying the society and human beings. There are not enough studies showing they are safe, they are not beneficial for the human body, and they contain poison that is consumed by the animals that humans eat in their everyday meals.

Sixty-four countries around the world have made it a requirement that foods with genetically modified organisms inside of them be labeled, unlike the United States. It has also been understood that genetically modified organisms can cause infertility, problems within the immune system, and changes within gastrointestinal system and major organs. These faults can help lead to death in humans. These foods that contain genetically modified organisms have also made people sick when a crop was pollinating.
Third, crops that contain genetically modified organisms also have poisons in them. These crops contain pesticides, herbicides, and even fungicides. These poisons are to prevent farmers from having to cut weeds and kill insects that try to destroy the crops. If these poisons are strong enough to kill weeds and insects, then they are strong enough to make the animals humans consume sick and contaminate them. The animals that the human population consumes has digested these horrible poisons. Not only are the animals being affected, but once again so are

In “The Threats from Genetically Modified Foods”, Robin Mather effectively brings awareness to the American public of the harmful side effects of genetically modified (GM) foods. She shares that genetically modified foods are foods with an altered genetic make-up. This alteration has lead them to be banned in several countries. However, in the United States, GM foods are not strictly regulated and, therefore, not required to be labeled. Also, the pesticides used in genetically modified foods yield harmful side effects in animals and humans.…

There is quite a bit of controversy surrounding the safety of transgenic organisms. Some people believe that bioengineered organisms and products are highly beneficial to our society and population in various ways, while others believe that the whole process in general is immoral and ultimately unsafe. We encounter transgenic organisms in our daily lives primarily through our food supply, and many issues with transgenic organisms are beginning to arise within the agricultural community because of this. Our society also has false perceptions about these organisms, which is causing a great upheaval regarding whether or not transgenic organisms really are safe. But before you can decide if these organisms are safe, you must first know what exactly…

Do The Pros of GMO’s outweigh the Cons? Since the introduction on the genetically modified organism in the mid to late 1990’s many people have debated on their economic and environmental impact, as well as their safety for human consumption. Many companies like Monsanto and Dow Agro-science that produce these bioengineered foods have conducted research on the topics of environmental and economic benefits as well as the safety of GMO foods. The results of the studies conclude that genetically modified foods are safe, economically beneficial, environmentally sensible, and have no danger to the people that consume them.…

With the many possibilities that genetic modification has sparked, health and ethical problems have become a topic of disagreement for a significant portion of the population, especially the consumers. So far, genetic food modifications have been the answer to our drastic population growth, but many have accused it to cause cancer, assist to the destruction of the environment, and accumulate horrible future health risks for children. To test on some theories, certain tests have been done on animals and the results are somewhat shocking. According to Jeffrey Smith in his article “Health Risks- IRT”, rats fed GM foods showed liver problems, reproductive problems, and infant mortality. Other animals, such as sheep, cows, chicken and buffalo, who fed on GM corn, were linked to sterility, disease, and death.…

In the article “Technology Won’t Feed the World’s Hungry,” Anuradha Mittal discusses the problems with genetically engineered food and economic issues of India. Mittal argues genetically modified food is not a solution to global hunger, because world hunger is an economic problem. I disagree, because GMOS can cure world hunger. The world is becoming more educated and tolerant of genetically modified food, such that any health concerns about GMOS are outweighed by the benefits. There are various kinds of GMOS, however I will be discussing GMOS as it relates to agriculture needs.…

However, there has not been enough conclusive evidence to conclude that GMOs are bad for humans. Banning GMOs would not solve a problem like this anyways, as nearly everyone takes in GM soybean products. It could even be argued that GM crops are safer than regular crops if they are designed to be resistant to pests. These plants would not need heavy duty chemicals to protect them, and there would be less damage to the environment around them. Pesticides in runoff can kill organisms that it was not intended for, but with pest resistance built in, pesticides are not needed.…

Farmers have been leaders in food for centuries. Without the production of agriculture, people would have ceased to exist. The food that farmers produce is heavily based on the geographical area they occupy. For example, farmers in Asia produce rice, farmers in South America produce coffee, and farmers in Idaho produce potatoes. Farming and agriculture brought man out of the age of hunting and gathering, and allowed civilizations to flourish because they no longer had to move around constantly and gather berries and fruits.…
