Would it be great if farmers did not have to worry about harsh weather conditions and crop damage due to pesticides without risking the health and well-being of their customers? Well, Genetically Modified Organisms could help make this dream a reality. Genetically Modified Organisms are feared by many individuals who have no idea what GMOs are. It is important to note that “GMOs are plants that have been genetically altered to make them more resistant to pests, viruses, and drought, and to improve their shelf life and nutritional value” (http://www.glutenfreeliving.com/gluten-free-lifestyle/non-gmo/gmo-impact-on-diet/). Using GMOs, scientists could turn on and turn off genes that cause pest attraction. Altering the DNA of crops has been proven safe over and over. GM foods could also potentially end our world hunger crisis. We lose a lot of the world’s crops every year because of global warming and harsh growing conditions around the world. If we lose less of our crops to pest damage and droughts, then more crops will be available for consumptions.

Those who fear GM foods do not actually have proof that GM foods are of any danger to the human body. In GM corn, “Bt corn is a variant of maize that has been genetically altered to express one or more proteins from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis. The protein is poisonous to certain insect pests and is widely used in organic gardening. The European corn borer causes about a billion dollars in damage to corn crops each year”…
