In a research conducted Shelly Grabe, Janet Hyde and Monique Ward, found that 50% of young women reported being dissatisfied with their own bodies (Grabe, Ward, & Hyde, 2013). By using other means like cosmetic surgery on themselves to become beautiful or starving themselves will eventually have detrimental effects to their health. The technology of genetically modifying babies will intensify the desires of those who want a “perfect” child to genetically modify theirs and the desire to perfect them. Genetically modified babies will lead to false idea of what beauty is and a negative impact on the self-confidence of women and men which will lead to the increase of suicides and psychological behaviors.
