Imagine this, you are about to become a big brother/sister, and you are anxiously waiting for the doctor to come out and tell you it is time to meet your little brother/sister. You are feeling overwhelmed with excitement and nervousness. Finally, you walk into the hospital room, and you hear your mom and dad crying. You realize you don’t see the baby anywhere around the room. You ask what is wrong, and they tell you that after the baby was born, it died shortly after from a disease that could have been curable a couple of days ago, but it was too late now. Genetic testing is when a pregnant woman takes a blood test and sees if their child might have a disease or type of cancer. Genetic testing is important because if a child has disease, parents can be ready and prepared for the disease their child might have.
