Societies debate against each other if genetic engineering in humans should be used in humans. What using this type of research and technology in humans means, modifying the type of organism(in this case humans) by manipulating the genes to standards society thinks is the best. Scientists think humans should use genetic engineering towards curing diseases while other scientists think humans should use this new technology towards creating new babies and modifying the child to society standards. Each way we use this technology and new ways of life has the positive and negativity towards the human population. With this new technology societies are able to cure diseases, create better medicines, …show more content…
With that playing part, they would have to be put on the transplant list to receive an organ, and more than twenty people die a day by being on the transplant list because they do not receive the organ they need in time. The whole idea of this genetic engineering project is having the “perfect child” and making sure they live the longest life they can with the new technology offered. Scientists have considered using animal values to solve this problem but it goes against some human ethic beliefs of having an animal’s functioning heart valve in their body. Another negative about this is using this type of transplants can cause the cells in embryos to die. “Scientists don’t know what genes to alter if they wanted to”(The Atlantic).Using these types of techniques can cause our bodies more harm than good because we are not sure of what the outcome could be based on the fundamentals in this type of …show more content…
Scientists have created the technology so we can create our own organs from our DNA and cells in our body. With this process involved, our organs have a higher chance of not failing and lasting a much longer time which is what this project is based off of since we are creating humans to have a longer life span. Using this type of research has led the project to findings about stem-cell research, artificial skin development, and 3-D organ printing. This new way of life can come a long way because “you can’t have a new drug that will grow a new liver or a new heart”(Institute of Medical Engineering in Science). These organs will be created in a more effective way and can save many more lives rather than waiting on the transplant
