Genesis: The African Bushmen Creation Myth

The creation story I decided to compare with the two creation stories if Genesis is the African Bushmen creation myth. In this story, humans originally lived underground with the Lord of All Life; Kaang. While the humans were living in bliss, Kaang was above ground creating the rest of the world. He eventually brought up the humans and instructed them to never build fire before he left the humans and animals to live on their own in harmony. Since the humans had never experienced darkness before, they became frightened when the night came, so, forgetting Kaang’s instruction, they built a fire. This fire scared the animals of the earth creating the divide between man and animals and fear has replaced the friendship between the two. Unlike the …show more content…
It is clearly stated in all three stories that a higher being created the world. The next religious truth I have chosen is that we are caretakers of creation. In Genesis, humans are told to have dominion over all of the earth. In the Bushmen story, there was originally a peaceful harmony over the planet, nothing was above anything else. This is an aspect of the stories that contrast each other. The third truth I chose is that the world is good. In the stories, “sin” is not created to be int eh hearts of men. All humans were created equal and to do good on the planet. Humans were not designed to act for only themselves, but for their god, others, along with themselves. My fourth truth is that God is to be respected or else ruin will come over mankind. We see this in the first of the Genesis sin stories when Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge. After eating it, mankind fell. There was no more peace and harmony. In the Bushmen story, we see this when the humans build fire against Kaang’s word. There was no longer harmony between man and nature. My final religious truth is that there is only one god. In many religions there are many gods, but in the three creation stories I and comparing and contrasting, there is only one god. In the Bible, it is clearly stated that God is the only god to worship and there will be no false deities before Him. In the Bushmen

There are a lot of similarities and differences between the two stories I will be covering on, the Iroquois Creation story and the Judeo-Christian Creation story. At first I will be covering the similarities of the two and later I will be covering the differences between the two. Now there were quite a few similarities between the two stories and I’m gonna start out with how they both have a Forbidden Tree that the humans are not supposed to eat from like for instants, in the Judeo-Christian story And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, for if you eat from it you will certainly die.”…

Throughout our lives we are taught different stories that can affect us dramatically, either in a positive way or negative way. During our childhood we read the Tortoise and the Hare, which is a story that taught us the moral, “slow and steady wins the race”. We also read things such as: The Boy Who Cried Wolf, which taught us essentially not to lie, because if you lie enough, you won’t be believed when you tell the truth. These stories taught us valuable lessons growing up, but not only do these children books teach us lessons. As we get older we start reading things known as creation myths in our classes.…

Conversely, the orator casts doubt on this assertion by saying that fire provides great opportunities for animals to grow. Small plants growing in the forests make an ideal habitat for special animals, for instance, rabbit and hares, to thrive there. What is more, predators who are feeding in these animals are able to live in this new environment. We also learn that fire enrich the food cycle in the forest At last, the reading passage alleges that fire in the Yellow stone national park had unpleasant impacts on tourism in this area.…

The beginning of the world and human existence have always mystified people. Human nature compels human beings to understand, put things in order, and explain the unexplainable. In ancient times creation stories answered the questions that confounded and bewildered the people living in those societies. Modern science and technology did not exist to help; no scientific experiment could be performed. Ancient societies used myth instead of analysis to answer the questions of existence and purpose; the creation stories were their truths.…

From the very beginning he connects these two concepts, linking the ‘whisper’ of the ‘fire’ to the image of ‘wolves’ wild and dangerous predators often used to symbolise threat. The colour of wolf fur, though not mentioned, is commonly grey, a colour connecting to the ash likely to be filling the air as a result of the fire. In addition to the image of the wolf is that of the ‘bear’, a large, looming creature that, when provoked, is often uncontrollable- just as the billowing and toxic smoke is out of control. The use of these two powerful animals instills within the reader a strong sense of panic and fear, communicating to them the feelings experienced by those trapped within the buildings. Armitage uses a third example of animal imagery in order to communicate panic to the reader, however this animal is not associated with the fire- instead, it is linked directly to the people trapped inside the building.…

Modern scientific thought includes many theories pertaining to the origins of the world, especially the evolution of man. The Old Testament gives correct instruction and starts with the wonder of God’s work as it directly relates to people. First, God made our world (Genesis 1:1-25), next he created us (Genesis 1:26-27). There is no better explanation of what we are and that we are beholden to our Creator.…

The book of Genesis and the poem Enuma Elish both describe the story of creation, in their own ways. Initially we can see that there are very different beliefs of how creation came to be throughout the stories, but there are some underlying concepts that are the same. The relationship between Deity and humanity in Genesis 1 and 2 is one that resembles a father and son, where as in the Enuma Elish humanity is merely a tool for the gods the handle their menial work. The book of Genesis gives the account to how the world was formed and the different promises God gives to his people.…
