Genesis And Greek Flood Similarities

A famous flood comes from Hinduism mythology called Manu. In this story a fish came to Manu while he was washing his hands. The fish asked Manu to be placed in a larger body of water so he could live, and in return the fish would save Manu from a great flood. Manu agreed and put the fish in a larger container. The fish grew so fast that it had to be moved to a tank and later to the ocean. When the fish was put into the ocean he had grown into a god, Vishnu and told Manu to build a boat for the upcoming flood. The flood came and destroyed everything other than Manu and his boat filled with animals. After the flood, Manu became lonely because it was only him and the animals, so he made a sacrifice to the gods and was rewarded with a wife. One similarity between this flood and Genesis flood is a god came to the hero warning him about the flood and …show more content…
It begins with Zeus being angry at the titan Prometheus for giving the people fire. Prometheus warned his son, Deucalion about the flood and told him to build a boat. Deucalion brought his wife on the boat and by the end of the flood, they were the only ones who survived. A similarity between the Genesis flood and the Greece flood is a higher power coming to the hero of the story and warning him about the flood, however in Genesis the higher power was a god and in Greece it was a titan. Another similarity is both Noah and Deucalion built an ark and both them and their wives survived. A difference is the cause of the flood. The Ancient Greece flood was caused by a titan giving fire to people, and in Genesis it was because God thought the earth was corrupt and filled with violence. In conclusion, all five of these floods all have a few things in common. In all of them a higher power comes to the hero and warns them about the flood. They also all build a boat and at least one person survives. The differences are usually in the reward of the hero or the cause of the
