Genesis 9: 1-19 Analysis

Improved Essays
Genesis 7, 8, and 9:1-19 focuses on Noah and his family in the ark with animals, insects, and birds for about 370 days. Some of the main events that happen in these verses are when Noah and his family board the ark along with the animals and birds. The flood rains came down on the Earth for forty days and forty nights. Forty days after the ship landed on a mountain top Noah opened the window and sent out a raven then a dove and both came back with nothing. Seven days later she sent the dove back out and this time it came back with an olive leaf. Lastly seven days later Noah sent out the dove for a third time and this time it did not come back, and when the earth was completely dry all inhabitants of the ark came out of the boat. Noah built an alter to God and God made a covenant with saying he will never destroy the earth by flood again.

After the Great Flood, it would have taken a while for the plants, trees, and bushes to grow to a food bearing size to meet human consumption needs. Unlike the humans animals eat grass which grows fairly quick. Therefore God allowed humans to eat the animals. Furthermore, the Great Flood most likely would have changed the climate so that there were waterless regions. In such regions, the only way to stay alive was to eat animals that can live off the scarce vegetation in such areas. It is not wrong to eat meat; in the scriptures there are records of Jesus eating fish. Some people can function well as vegans, and others' health performs poorly. It depends on the

The creation myth of the Epic of Gilgamesh starts out with the introduction of the character Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh is the powerful king of Uruk and two-thirds god, and one-third man who is seen as one of the greatest things in Uruk. The Epic of Gilgamesh is a creation myth because Utnapishtim tells Gilgamesh that the gods are going to flood the earth and wipe out mankind as punishment , and he is told to build a massive boat for his family and “take aboard the boat a seed of every living creature” (143). Similarly, just as it states in our bible, Noah is told to build an Arc for the flood and bring two of every animal…

After the Israelites settled in Canaan, the Ark is only occasionally mentioned in scripture. We know it had a home in Bethel (Judges 20:18, 27), Shiloh (1 Sam 1:3, 25; 3:3, 4:3), Kiriath-jearim (1 Samuel 7:1-2), and Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6:12-17). Once the rainfall ended, water covered the world for an additional 150 days. Romans 12:9-21 seems to be a disconnected sequence of commands, but a closer examination reveals that these verses demonstrates what love looks like in the Christian life. Genuine love is the common thread that runs throughout this entire passage and where Paul fleshes out the love commandments of Jesus Christ. Before we dive deep into the passage, I first would ask that you pause for a moment and think about: What is Love? or What it looks like? Then I ask that you identify relationships where you need to grow in love—it may be a family member, a peer, a neighbor, or a person at church.…

The film, Noah, directed by Darren Aronofsky, written by Ari Handel was released recently in March 2014 and is based on the biblical event of Noah’s ark. Several historical books contain the story of Noah and early civilizations have flood stories recorded at around the same time period. It is hard to pin down what actually happened in the flood account because it happened in a very early time period and there are several different versions of the story. The film portrays the story of Noah in a very cinematic, intense, climatic way. The goal of the director was to make money based off of a popular biblical story, not to illustrate the event in a historically accurate way.…
