God’s work in his followers is a divine divine undertaking in which man becomes more like Christ and less like the world. Throughout the sermon, he begins to lose his voice and gasps for air. He immediately grabs his water and begins to guzzle it. As the congregation waits patiently for the sermon to resume, I begin to reflect on the hard times my pastor has gone through to get here.…

3.2 The water at the wedding at Cana Usually, the main figure in the story of the wedding at Cana is the wine which ran out. On the other hand, water played a very important role. Water which has been, all through the source of life in a very ordinary way, has become also the source of life and celebration in an extraordinary life.…

In several Old Testament passages, beginning with the first scripture in the first chapter, we see that God is the creator of heaven and earth, and mankind. God not only creates man, He also puts His spirit within humans. We were created in His image, in His likeness; therefore, we have the capacity to create and flourish. Upon careful study of Genesis through Revelation we understand that God revealed His power of creativity by inspiring man to duplicate patterns for visual arts such as sculpting, wood work, stone masonry, poetry, dancing, musical instrumentation, and theater.…

By connecting John and Pontius with these biblical characters through the symbol of fish, Ruhl adds psychological value to her play. This familiar Christian symbol makes her metaphors more clear and presents her audiences with two opposing forces that must find common ground throughout the course of the play. The audience must think more critically about these common biblical figures, deciding for themselves how moral their decisions are within the given circumstances. Similar to the double meaning of fish, water symbolizes both the “living waters” of Christ and the seas of the world that souls can get lost in (Drewer 534). Ruhl associates John with Christ by having him spend his days upon the living waters as he fishes, while Pontius is…

Thales, one of the philosophers who believe that everything arises from material, claims that water is the first principle. He may have reached this conclusion in observing that “everything’s food is moist, and that moisture is the source and prerequisite for the life of warmth itself”.(Aristotle, Metaphysics 983b6-32 Ross). The essence of Thales’ s thinking is that the material which anything can trace back to is the first principle. In this case, according to him, is water, since water is obviously the most common thing in our lives. I agree that water composes our earth and every living beings, so that it is more likely to be the number one principle that we should refer to.…
