Prophetic Jesus, Prophetic Church is a book written by Thomas Johnson. Johnson wrote this book to challenge taking the Luke-Acts Christianity into contemporary Christianity. The challenge is that the church would have an ear to hear its prophetic calling. The overall purpose of the book is to offer a scriptural foundation for the ministry of the church so that it is grounded and coherent in the ministry of Jesus. Johnson argues that Luke and Acts, presents Jesus and the apostles in terms of prophecy.…

He is very strongly opinionated about the true image, and believes it should be adhered to perfectly because “THE NORM IS THE WILL OF GOD”. During one of his lectures about the true image and blasphemy, Joseph clearly states that “The Norm is the Image of God”, and this is a philosophy that he strictly upholds. “The enemies of God besiege us… they work to distort the true image… they attempt to defile the race”, “...It might destroy the divine order…”. Joseph believes that as a proper, orthodox, god-respecting community it is their job to abide by the true image and the will of God, and that anyone who does not is committing blasphemy.…

Imagine being caught in the crosshairs of two seemingly different sides. Having allegiance to one side, but curiosity and interest in the other. In the Book of John we meet a Pharisaic ruler of the Jews named Nicodemus. This man is mentioned three times in the book of John, less in the sense of the typical role of a Pharisee and more of a curious potential believer of the works of Jesus. In this character study I will list and describe the instances where Nicodemus was mentioned, as well as explain why this character is relevant to the book of John and the story of Jesus.…

John the Baptist is a standout amongst the most particular characters in the New Testament. He had a bizarre pizazz for design, wearing wild-looking garments made of camel's hair and a calfskin belt around his midsection. He lived in the left wild, ate beetle and wild nectar and lectured an abnormal message. John the Baptist knew his fundamental purpose for existing. He unmistakably comprehended that God had separated him for a reason.…

In the Koran, the story of Joseph is told in a different meaning. The story of Joseph was a major part of the Koran, however, the points that are emphasized by the Koran are utterly different than that of the Old Testament. In the Koran's adaptation of the story, Joseph acts as a manual to everyone interacts with. The interpretation of the dreams of the prisoners in the jail is an example of the need to spread monotheism. This serves as one of the key differences in the two accounts.…

As the son of Jacob’s prized wife Rachel, Joseph receives special treatment. The author of Genesis affirms this by stating “And Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons” (Gen 37:3). This is further proved when Joseph receives a colored tunic from his father while his brothers receive nothing. In addition to the tunic, Joseph also probably received the biggest allowance in the family, was given the easiest family chores to do (if any) and maybe even assigned to be “in charge” of the household when Jacob and Rachel were away.…

Christians should consider that pacifism, which is the belief that violence cannot be justified under any circumstance, is interpretable from Christianity. While this is a strong stance, there are compelling arguments connecting faith and nonresistance. John Howard Yoder lays out the argument that violence is an offense directly against God that cannot be justified. Just War Theory is often raised as a sway for Christians to commit to nonviolence except in certain circumstances. Even if violence could be moral, just war theory does not work, especially in this modern age.…

Joseph’s story expresses the inadequacies, fears, and general dissatisfaction individuals have with life. This is a more genuine hero because the goals are more attainable. For example, Joseph simply wanted to be “a man’s man” and join the army, boiling it down to he wanted to be useful and needed for something important. Isn’t that what everyone human being wants on some level; To be a productive person. It’s not realistic to wake up and say, “I think I’ll cure cancer today” or “I’ll end global warming,” but it is possible to do something like fight for your country or get a…
