As I am reading, I found 5 themes. The first theme is sovereignty of God. God's sovereignty is what emphasizes the beginning of the Pentateuch. As God created earth, he did so through the power of His spoken word. There are two central doctrines of the Christian faith that are called creatio ex nihilo and fiat. Creatio ex nihilo means creation out of nothing and fiat means creation by divine decree. In Genesis 1 it shows us just how powerful He can establish God's sovereignty over his creation. Some other examples that show us this is the flood in Genesis chapter 6-9 and the story of the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11. By rehearsing his dealings with individuals, the Pentateuch demonstrates God's supreme dominion. This teaches us that God is powerful and that he is always beside us protecting us and guiding us.

As you can see the message is very clear. The message is that Humankind is fallen. In the beginning with Adam and Eve, they had every thing you could have ever needed. The image of this is a reflection of shalom, which means peace. Shalom-peace is present when God is not hindered by our sins and is able to add significance meaning to our existence. Sin then entered and changed that shalom image of God's. When sin entered it there was a loss of a peaceful relationship with God. It also effected the way they related to creation and each other.
The fourth theme of the Pentateuch is salvation. As the book states this is not just the New Testament doctrine. Through salvation it shows us God's love and grace and the single thread of redemption. You can find his redemption actions in his nature as a loving and compassionate God in John 3:16.
