My grandmother is 77 years old. Grandma stated that she grew up in Dallas Texas as a child and moved to North Louisiana at the age of seventeen and married my grandfather. My grandparents were married for fifty- eight years. In her early twenties, she graduated from Louisiana College in 1969 with a bachelor 's degree in education and, for about a year before I was born, worked as a Math teacher for the North East Senior College, in her new hometown of Saint Martin, Louisiana. She spends her leisure time reading, writing poetry and travelling to visit family mainly my aunts and uncle who live in Houston, Texas. Specifically, that everyone regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation everyone deserved to be treated equitably and equally. She mentioned the attack in Florida recently where Gay and lesbian people was killed. It does not surprise me that she has such compassion for others. My parents raised us to love everyone. My perception of older adults hasn’t changed because I have lived long enough to understand the changes that come with old age.
