Generational differences are seen between my mother and I with work experience and career opportunity. Employment opportunity provided an important impetus to Hmong parent to be self sufficiency. In 1987, my family arrived to Saint Paul, Minnesota in September 1987 settled in a small shared duplex home. Upon my family settlement in America, both my parent went to adult education school, my mother shortly had to drop out due to the lack of childcare. While my father worked to support the family my mother began the work force in a manufacture company operating assembly lines that produced business cards and hotel cards.
Slow economy affect workforce which has affect many manufacture including my mother company. After being laid off from manufacture company and unable to find any company willing to hire her due to lack of job experience and language barrier. Face unemployment for many months being unable to find work she enter into the food industry by working as cook worker at Leeann Chin corporation by making pre-made product to be sent to the chain
