Terances mother asked him how his day was at school. “Fine” says with absolutely no emotion on his face, or in the tone of voice he used.
“OK” she says in a sarcastically-happy-voice, “That is a good way to end the school day”. They finally pull into their driveway, with the sound of gravel crunching reminding him of the gunfire of his video-game he was eager to get back to. He is at level 19 and has been staying up until the break of dawn to get where he is now. Scattered around his room are empty potato chip bags and empty Coke bottles. He has snuck those in during the night so his over-protective parents would not know what he is doing. Terance has looked like a zombie for the past week because he has stayed up to play his video-game.

Rebecca Coxon said “ A new study shows that 1/3 of people feel overwhelmed by technology today and are more likely to feel less satisfied with their life as a whole”. Generation Z’s lives are being overwhelmed by technology as it is being added to everyday life. As technology is being added to our everyday routines society must get used to using it. That means spending hours upon hours trying to figure it out. As they spend more time figuring out the technology the more they drift away from society. It has revolutionized work as a whole. The University of UCLA conducted an experiment and here are the results, “Sixth-graders who went five days without even glancing at a smartphone, television or other digital screen did substantially better at reading human emotions than sixth-graders from the same school who continued to spend hours each day looking at their electronic devices.” The more that people spend time staring at an electronic screen, the more they drift from actually interacting with other people. These kids who are electronically addicted may soon be sitting in their parents basement wondering how they became where they are now. “Emails, texts - these lack the emotive qualities of face-to-face interaction” says parenting expert Denise Daniels. She also says “...technology can completely rewrite a child’s brain pathways in a very different way than how they would normally develop.” This …show more content…
Edudemic.com says ”More use of technology with less physical activity leads to obesity.” The Internet is a great place to find information and facts, but is also a great place for games, too. If kids stay online too long without any physical fitness it can really have a bad toll on a body. Obesity has become very bad in the United States, and has lead to many diseases. As stated by Angela Fals, “In general, kids today prefer spending hours watching TV or playing with their tablet computer instead of heading outdoors to a park or getting active with friends.” This has caused kids to be more attached to technology and not the outdoors. The outdoors is where kids go to have fun and exercise. If technology takes that away from kids, generations after will not go outside. That will continue until the outdoors are nothing but a memory. NBC news states that “Technology changes the way you eat.” As more people are pulled in by the publicity of technology they do not understand what is behind it. Technology has caused too many people to become obese. Since it has changed the neural pathways in our brain our brain believes that unhealthy food is the way to go. All of the commercials with famous athletes and actors eating McDonalds and still have healthy bodies are fakers. Our brain sees that as a good way to stay healthy, but it is not. These commercials trick our brains and that is what makes us obese.

After flinging my school bag onto my back in an angry manner, i left my empty casing of a family home slamming the door behind me. Usually at this point I would walk the family gremlin to school because sadly we went to the same one, but the daily argument happened 20 minutes before scheduled so she wasn't even ready yet, luckily. I was now in my element. Music on, world off. I went along the same route, passing all the same oak trees, taking all the right roads as per normal.…

“Shut Down Your Screen” Kids these days always have some sort of technology around with them, everywhere they go. As a result, parents have wondered what would happen if the technology was taken away from their children. Parents worked together with their schools and made a national week called, “Shut Down Your Screen Week”, where students are to quit using technology for a week. There are many reasons why schools should participate in this national event. Some of these reasons are because technology makes kids distracted, unattached from the real world, form bad habits, and although some may say that it makes friendship bonds stronger, face to face interaction does not happen enough.…

Just imagine living in a country where one in every three children are overweight or obese; this is the world we live in today. To whom is the blame set on? Logically, it would be the parent 's responsibility to monitor their children as to what they are eating, and how they are spending their free time. Not necessarily pushing a stronger diet, but being able to get their children to consume the healthiest nutrients their bodies need to keep them at a healthy weight as well as finding a way to get their children to exercise. More and more children today are spending their time indoors watching television or in front of any sort of electronic screen.…

The Millennial Problem Simon Sinek, a mainstream speaker on leadership, states that the Millennial Generation was set at a disadvantage. Sinek summarizes that the difficulties with the Millennial Generation can be summarized into four categories: Parenting, Technology, Impatience, and environment. Personally, I agree with Sinek’s argument that the Millennials were set at a disadvantage, however I do not think that it is up to the corporations to fix the Millennial Generation. Rather, it is up to the individual to help themselves. His first point is that Millennial generation was raised under inadequate parenting tactics.…

With forty-eight percent of families living with children ranging from ages 2-17 owning at least the four entertainment staples; television, VCR, computer, and video games; It’s no surprise that technology is impacting the development of children in this new modern era (Woodward and Gridina). As the effects of technology’s impact on the growth of children is brought to light, it is time to take control and insure its positive use in society. Technology is limiting the growth of the essential categories of positive development in children: psychological, physical, and social development. Technology is decreasing parent to child interactions, which play one of the largest roles in the psychological development of a child, especially within the first years of their life. A child’s positive…

Kids are spending more time on technology at younger ages than ever before. Parents must come to their senses and realize how much time kids are spending on screen. I personally believe that parents should limit their kids screen time because it has been proven that people are less social if they are addicted to technology. Many parents across the nation are concerned that their kid(s) are spending too much time on electronic devices. This topic is debatable whether to put a limit on how much time our kids are allowed on screen or to let them decide for themselves.…
