Terrorism is a tactic which it has an ideological context that aims to instill fear in the population to achieve his own objectives After September 11, 2001, the global war against terrorism began. Nonetheless, this tactic is not new but 9/11 drives to maximize the propaganda value of terrorist attacks. In 2001 CENTCOM began operation enduring freedom, a joint and a combined war against al Qaeda. Furthermore, as in the first Gulf War the first phase was a precision bombardment in conjunction with the insertion of special forces with a great success.
According to the National Security Strategy the United States Armed Forces must be in condition to face and conduct operations against terrorism and defend the nation at the same time.
