The above depicted oil rig disasters and subsequent inquires have shown that most of the incidents were due to health and safety violations, lack of proper safety procedures, safety management and implementation of safety regime. The safety system should emphasise that individuals take ownership of safety and take action in case of any emergency. By self-evaluating oneself a commitment towards personal safety and the safety of others can be established with measureable safety targets and using feedback as a means self-development.
• Behavioural Safety
To implement a total safety culture a Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) culture should be emphasised. BBS has a proactive focus and encourages personal and their work groups to consider the potential for accidents and safety violations and to assess their own behaviour as safe or unsafe and has a bottom up approach with a top down support system where the feedback is received from the workers and safety management is done by management.
The BBS method engages in a people-focused, one-to-one or group observations of workers performing routine work tasks, setting goals carefully and giving timely feedback on safety-related behaviour, coaching and mentoring and improving safety standards.

The personal must be medically fit and have undergone the proper safety training and does not have and been checked for alcohol and drugs abuse as alcohol or drugs are not allowed Offshore and processing it result in termination as it endangers others and the facility.
A work routine is normally a 12 hour shift and a working day is divided in to a day shift and a night with an emergency standby group. Personal must wear all mandatory PPE outside the accommodation areas and are required to participate in all specified safety, emergency and fire drills. All incidents, accidents, first aid cases and illnesses whatever there severity is must be reported and recorded as per the regulatory standards.
