Mr. Smith generated tests scores for the Rorschach protocol (R=15 and L=0.67), MCMI (V), and MMPI (VRIN, TRIN) that are considered valid. Furthermore on the MCMI and MMPI, he revealed enough information about himself through his response style (X). His results indicated that he did not attempt to portray himself in a positive way, deny having weaknesses, and shortcomings (L, Y, K). Nonetheless, the patient’s test results on the MCMI and MMPI indicated that the patient is likely to portray himself in a negative way (Z and FB).

Smith does show problems in his ability to perceive certain situations and other people accurately, which becomes a problem when he is confronted with a stressful situation. Because Mr. Smith has compulsive like tendencies and he is more of a feeler than a thinker he will act on emotion rather than thinking things through. In addition, when he is under the influence of alcohol and drugs, it impairs his perception of the situation and he responds inappropriately to the situation. Hence, he attacked an individual and resisted arrest.
Furthermore, Mr. Smith is amenable to close and emotional relationships; however he has trouble understanding and relating to others. Because of his tendency to separate himself from social interactions, unless he is approved by his peers, this makes it difficult for Mr. Smith to create and sustain meaningful relationships.
