Again, if I wanted to become an Orthodontist, and suddenly I realized that this profession was simply not cut out for me, I would not be completely disoriented due to my General Education classes. General Education classes provide one with the knowledge of their own strengths and weaknesses. Knowing where your strengths and weaknesses lie, provides one with an easier way to select another major. Another example of this would be if I graduated and then was experiencing an extremely difficult time finding a job in Orthodontics. I would clearly need a back up plan. General Education classes present one with knowledge of other fields, therefore one would experience a less problematic time finding work elsewhere. These individuals believe that if they already know their field of interest, it is pointless to partake in General Education classes. They conclude this because they are already familiar with the path they desire therefore they do not need to explore other areas. However, it is quite obvious that General Education classes provide many other positive aspects that may aid one’s education. If these individuals did not partake in General Education classes they would face a very difficult time excelling within their field. Due to the fact that every subject builds on one another, students will face an extremely challenging time writing adequate papers, providing valid arguments, and will struggle communicating properly, along with much more the General Education classes teach. Although many people believe that General Education classes are a waste of time, it is clear that they provide you will a proper education that you simply would not be able to excel
