Career development is defined on the entity using this term. On an individual front, is career development making more and more money with the passage of time? Is it moving always up the ladder in an organisation? Or is it doing what you do best in your own comfort zone? (Martin and Schmidt, 2010) One in every five employees in an organisation believe that their career goals are different than what their employees have decided for them. But there’s also an interesting fact that has been reflected following a research, that 40% of the decisions that these employees take in their internal job moves turn out to be horrendous. (Corell, 2001) It is observed that the differentiation in the choices made by the two opposite genders is fairly visible in the various verticals of different careers. This is primarily because of the different cultural concepts existing between the two genders that have arisen overtime due to the society itself. It has been noticed that women are discouraged from entering science and technology sector due to various stereotypes. Since there hasn’t been much women in this sector since the beginning of time, there is a lack of role models for women and then there is this world where regardless of interest there are limited resources to find out the possibilities in this sector and since they are never shown the light of this field, women never come across the possibilities with this sector (Betz, 1994; Fitzgerald & Harmon, 2001; Luzzo & McWhirter, 2001) and then there is the lack of psychological support for this field and since it is left unexplored only a handful women take that leap and go searching for their horizons in this sector.
