Gender Wage Gap In Hollywood

Much ado has been made concerning the gender wage gap amongst Hollywood’s actors. In recent news many have voiced concerns in the sometimes inexplicably large wage differences that generally seem to favor men over women. For example, after Sony was hacked it was said that Jennifer Lawrence who was recently deemed Hollywood’s highest paid female actor, in the film American Hustle reportedly made far less than her male actor counterparts, Christian Bale And Bradley Cooper. Naturally many people especially women were unpleased with such a revelation and in response many called for change alongside explanations as to how and why this could be possible. Lawrence responded to the information gathered by Sony in an essay published by Lenny Letter, an online feminist magazine owned by Lena Dunaham. Consequently, for her response many including Co-star Cooper and Hillary Clinton praised her for her industry-chastising essay. Notwithstanding, in recent budget reports from the film American Hustle, Jennifer Lawrence reportedly made more than both the male actors averaging 65,000 a day in comparison to Bale and Coopers 55,000 a day despite coming in mid-production. I think that Jennifer Lawrence is a shining example of a strong modern woman and is an inspiration for all people and not just women. Aforesaid considered, I feel in the future she should carefully choose her subject matter and battlegrounds so that her voice will not be overlooked or second guessed because of fallacious facts and or misandry.
