Shonda Rhimes’ Connection to Feminism
Shonda Rhimes is an excellent Producer who is a great advocate for modern feminism. She has produced many wonderful televisions shows that portray a strong female lead such as: Greys Anatomy, Private Practice, How to get Away with Murder, and Scandal. These shows represent the power of women in the work force. Her talents are not only limited to tv, she also wrote the film Crossroads, and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. (“Shonda Rhimes”)

Both work is very recent, with both women’s work being made in the 21st century. Rhimes’ work can be compared to Lepore’s book for the sake of trying to make powerful women the main point. Although Lepore did not actually create Wonder Woman, she does a great job in showing the connection that Wonder Woman has with feminism. In Lepore’s book she talks about the history of how Wonder Woman became, and the importance of her character during World War II. Rhimes’ can be compared to this story by giving everyday women the idea of being a superhero. Lepore uses her book to explain the background of Wonder Woman but also shows the impact she had on women. Shonda does the same thing by taking idea of women in the everyday workforce and playing them out to be an amazing “superhero” like Wonder Woman is. Rhimes’ givens women a powerful woman to look up to and aspire to be. Just like Wonder Woman, Rhimes’s characters show that women can be powerful in whatever they do, whether it is being a well-respected surgeon, being a powerful woman associated with the government, or being a well-respected lawyer and law
