Next, a test of independence examining the level of income and gender will be carried out to determine of total personal income is dependent on an individual’s gender. To examine any possible differences in total personal income, a test of independence will be conducted to determine if occupation type is dependent on gender and if there is a trend among either gender to work in certain occupation types. To explore another possible factor in any difference in personal income, a test of independence will be conducted to see if the total number of weeks worked per year is dependent on gender. If either gender works significantly more than the other, that gender will most likely have to have a higher total personal income. To reinforce this idea, a test of independence between the number of weeks worked per year and salary will be conducted to determine if individuals who work more do end up with a higher personal income. The final test conducted will be a sample means test to determine if there is a difference among males and females of the mean total number of weeks worked per year. If there is a difference, this will be another factor contributing to the reason for the gender income gap. The goal of this project is to determine contributing factors of the gender income
