Stereotyping In Advertising

Throughout generations of advertising a reoccurring theme arises, gender stereotyping is a prominent issue in current society. Males are unrealistically depicted as the dominant sex in advertisements, considering this, males can be also portrayed as egotistical and more intelligent than women.

Throughout the 2012 Kentucky Fried Chicken advertisement males are depicted through multiple settings as egotistical.
A tracking full shot is effectively used to emphasise the woman’s struggle in carrying the heavy object while also perpetuating that she is in a workplace environment. Her costuming which includes heels and skirt also emphasises the struggle on carrying the tank.
