Gender Specific Program Analysis

A female gender specific program that I am relatively familiar with and is gender specific to girls is the PACE center for girls. This program provides girls with the opportunity for a better future through education. The program is available to girls ranging from middle school to high school who are experiencing trouble in their life. The program operates in 19 counties throughout Florida. The way the program works is similar to a regular school, the girls complete a full school day and are provided with specific counseling and therapy if needed.

Initially every girl is assessed academically and psychologically in order properly meet her specific needs. The program can keep girls for up to 24 months and once she has successfully completed

In a recent poll performed by The Washington Post, six out of ten women declare themselves to be a feminist (Cai and Clement). In Ellen Ullman’s essay, “How to Be a ‘Woman Programmer,” she argues that women today “face a new, more virile and virulent sexism” (729). It has become common today to argue about women’s inequality or focusing on solely the school’s education methods to equip future men, which we tend to overlook the deeper problems which are the results of our rapidly growing feminist culture.…

In A Long Way Gone by Beah Beah he says, “One of the main aims of the rebels was to force the civilians to stay with them, especially women and children” (Beah 37). Throughout history race and gender have been closely intertwined in the construction of both black and white women’s bodies alike. The female body being viewed as natural, the medicalizing of the female body, and advertising the ideal beauty are concepts that have been embedded in Western thinking for many years. These three theories show the interaction between gender and race in the construction of thoughts concerning, and the interpretation of, the woman’s body. The first concept that affects how we view the woman’s body deals with relating the woman to the body.…

For instance in this article the author said “But, my school isolated me from the real world. The world isn’t just the kingdom of the legendary Amazons; men do exist.
