In addition, the same research above has illustrated educational level has a

strong relationship of women’s shopping pattern. They conducted an experiment

by comparing the shopping preferences between women in The USA and India,

and arrived the conclusion that women in The USA are tend to shop more and

can have a great time even if they don’t buy a thing. “Shopping for women is

certainly about buying but it is also about leisure, creativity, pleasure and

independence.”(Malhotra, 2011) This idea has correspond the survey found in

Shoppercentric (2012) it has point out that men are more likely to shop when

they know exactly they need and they will leave the shop once they finish

purchasing. Compare with women, they think shopping is a fun way to pass the

time and they often go to the shops to just look around. In some extent, these

researches finding is a convening support point toward my hypothesis.

During the “Target Scavenger Hunt” assignment, my perspective of gender has been expanded on what society thinks about gender. In general, Target separate the products into different categories, so the products could easily be found. In other words, the way they organize the stores is to appeal and advertise consumers to buying the items. For example, like Daniel had said in class, women’s clothes would appear first before any other clothing because women/mothers looks for clothes than men would. The men’s clothes is usually way in the back than it would be for women’s clothing.…
