Awareness, Support, and understanding are crucial for general acceptance. Transgender youth face a great deal of hardships as a result of who they are. With general acceptance, transgender youth has a better chance of living a happier life. As acceptance for gay rights continues to progress in the United States, some advocates believe that the "T" in LGBT has been forgotten. Bewilderment normally occurs over what "transgender" means, and how it is not the same as gay, lesbian, or bisexual (Nazish, Noma). To sum it all up, awareness and support are the main keys in allowing transgender individuals to live a more peaceful, pleasant life. Transgender youth does not receive the support that they need in order to live freely, to live without the fear of being harmed or harassed when they leave their home. Not everyone understands what transgender is, but a privation of understanding does not make it indecent. If more people stood in solidarity with transgender individuals, the discrimination and iniquity that they face can be diminished. The way that transgender students get treated is completely unfair, they are human just as anyone else is and they deserve equal rights; they deserve to be able to go to school without the fear of being verbally harassed or abused.
