One scene in the film shows Jordan Belfort played by Leonardo DiCaprio and his wife Naomi played by Margot Robbie in a heated argument and as she states issue that she deals with at home like gardening and cleaning; Belfort makes a mockery of the by saying “Oh, you probably had to pay them in cash or actually do some work other than swipe my credit card”. This clearly is a portrayal of “The Nuclear Family”, DiCaprio clearly being the “Breadwinner” in this whole situation by being the sole provider in the home and Robbie being portrayed as the “Homemaker” or a housewife that has to stay home and be domestic. In Laura Mulvey’s Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema (1975) states that “Women Stands in patriarchal as signifier of male others, being bound by a symbolic order in which man can live out his fantasies”. The movie relates with this point because in one of scenes in the movie Naomi’s aunt suddenly passes away from a heart attack and they are set to go to the funeral, but Belford insists that they go to Switzerland so he would be able to get his money. Gender stratification is the unequal distribution of wealth, power, and privilege between men and women. The film does not show women in a position of power not even with their bodies. In one scene Naomi and Belfort seem to be in a dispute, and his punishment is the wife with holding sex. As she says, “ Mommy is sick and tired of wearing panties around the house”, as she spreads her legs the camera pans to Belfort being aroused by her she also states “ You can look but you cant touch” and the camera shows a teddy cam in the baby’s room and Belfort shows the camera and she closes her legs out of embarrassment.
