The Major Advantages and Disadvantages in the NFL Playoffs Well everyone, it is that time of the year, the Superbowl is almost here and everybody is on edge, including myself. So far these games has left our gaws dropped and our mouths open, teams that we thought would dominate, fell hard with a loss. But what does it take to win games and go all the way to the Superbowl ? What advantages or disadvantages affects a team’s performance ? I feel that the number one advantage a team can in the playoffs is being at home, because the team is comfortable on their field. “For Many teams, this advantage is overhyped and for some is overestimated” (the Sports Quotients), but the crowd’s roars and cheers hypes up the team giving …show more content…
Which is when you have teams that just have amazing players on their team, the people that just seem they can not be stopped. The quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the Green Bay Packer for example, is known for throwing long perfect passes down the field under pressure. Then you have Julio Jones, he is the wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, and he a big threat to teams in the NFL. The Atlanta Falcons coach Dan Quinn said “he knows what type of special talent he has in wide receiver Julio Jones” (Espn). Speaking of the Atlanta Falcons they are one of the two teams that will be in Super Bowl 51. They will take on the the New England Patriots in Houston Texas. What advantages or disadvantages do you think the Falcons or the Patriots have ? I think that the Falcons may want to watch the Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. He is 6’6 and 265 lbs, he is a big player which will be hard to take him down. They may also want to watch Tom Brady’s throwing game, he has a 63.8 completion percentage. Well those are my thoughts on advantages and disadvantages in the NFL playoffs. It will be a really good game between #1 New England and #2

The Oregon Ducks have been the greatest powerhouse and go to college school to beat for over the past five years. With a new offensive coach brought in during their 2007 season (Chip Kelly) Oregon's potent spread offense attack was an unstoppable force, and college teams had never seen anything like it. The Ducks would lead their conference (Pac-12) in scoring (38.15 points per game) (ESPN, 2011) and would also set several new school records for offensive yards and become the highest scoring team in their division. It gives the Bucs an opportunity to go in attack mode and set the pace of the game. They spent the preseason and a lot of time in practice this week playing with as much noise and commotion surrounding the practice field as they could create while the offense was on the field. While it does create a different mindset and force players to use different techniques, it still doesn’t compare to what they will face Sunday when they open up the regular season against the Atlanta Falcons in the Georgia Dome. The Buccaneers offense has spent a lot of time working on…

The football that we see in the National Football League (NFL) is the same as the Canadian Football League (CFL), but with different teams and rules. In the NFL, a team has four chances to get a first down (getting the ball ten yards), but in the CFL they only get three chances. Not only is the amount of downs different, but so are the amount of players on the field. In the NFL, there are eleven players on the field, opposed to the CFL, where there are twelve! In the CFL, they can fit twelve people onto the field easier because the field is bigger than the NFL’s field.…

Ohio State The Buckeyes saw their College Football Playoff hopes disappear when Michigan State Spartans kicker Michael Geiger hit a 41-yard field goal as time expired in the Horseshoe on Nov. 21. Despite the fact Urban Meyer's team would no longer hold a top four ranking, the loss to Michigan State may have been the best thing that happened to Ohio State this season. Dealing with adversity is the only way to grow as a team, a notion implied by University of Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh as he once referenced a quote from “The Lion King”: "The past can hurt.…

If you picked the Denver Broncos over the Green Bay Packers from a list of NFL best bets, you surely reaped the benefits. While the Broncos may not have been NFL consensus picks, they certainly had its fair share of prognosticators and gamblers lining up to bet that side and surprisingly, it wasn't even close. On a cool night at Sports Authority Field in Denver, Colorado, the biggest game of this young NFL season was played between two undefeated titans with designs on representing its respective conferences in the Super Bowl. The host Denver Broncos and visitors the Green Bay Packers both entered the game at 6-0, knowing one team would leave with its first loss of the season. By the time the gun sounded signaling the end of the game, the Broncos were ahead on the scoreboard 29-10 and sitting at 7-0 on the season as the Packers dropped to 6-1.…

The NFL needs to improve on how team doctors are evaluating players after injury along with stopping the bribing of players with money. The NFL should also continue its research on concussions and brain/head complications later in life to see how much they are connected. I believe the NFL needs to take charge and implement new policies that can help prevent concussions and gruesome injuries to players. In the future the NFL could make practices safer by eliminating contact drills. They could also reevaluate techniques of tackling and blocking, and rules governing the game.…

Many individuals look up to the game of football. That leads to the cons of believing there are more risks than benefits. For instance, there would be less physical activity, fewer friends, and many life lessons would be missed out on. I do not believe the risks outweigh the benefits in playing the sport. From playing sports throughout my whole life, there is never a day that I wished I never played.…

They have done some disturbing things in the meantime between the “dog days” of summer and what they promise will be a polished, new future. There is a strong link between protecting the image of the game and the impact of player suspension. As stated before, the NFL is the most watched sport on television and therefore, a lot of pressure is put on the league to sustain that level of popularity. However, with domestic violence cases skyrocketing, along with others, the league often faces the decision of whether to suspend players or keep them to retain popularity. Brant Webb, a writer for the American University Journal of Gender, Social Policy and Law, wrote an interesting piece…

All the way from pewee leagues to professional sports women are stereotyped by society. These stereotypes occur in many different ways, across a wide variety of sports. Between being valued on physical appearance of the body, and less on performance, gender stereotypes clearly exist in sports. In the article “Stereotype threat affects the learning of sport motor skills”, by Caroline Heidrich and Suzete Chiviacowsky, the authors explain that the purpose of their study was to discover if women in sports are effected in anyway by sterotypes. They gathered a group of 24 women and divided them into two groups.…
