Unfortunately, there are still gender specific jobs. According to Ron White of Demand Media, “Major League Baseball and the National Football League both have 100 percent male athletes.” In addition, the catholic church limits priest to the male gender (Demand Media). According to U.S. News, stereotypes can be important when some employers are hiring for certain jobs. When it comes to jobs, gender is still a factor that is used in hiring. Bosses who have not let go of old stereotypes will determine who they hire and may be biased. A boss who is biased might choose a man over a woman to be a surgeon. America is within the top 40 stereotypical countries. In a country who is ranked in the top 5 stereotypical roles, it would be hard for a woman to get hired in a job that could be seen better with a man working. According to Kathryn Scantlebury on Education.com, “Gender role stereotyping occurs when a person is expected to enact a series of norms or behaviors based upon their sex.” Stereotyping in a workplace can affect the relationships, and the way one is treated. According to research, boys and girls are different. While boys and girls can have different traits, there is evidence that both genders can have the same traits. Boys are usually aggressive and girls are caring, but this doesn’t mean it can’t be reversed. A young boy may be made fun of for crying while young girls are encouraged to express emotion. Girls may be called a tomboy if they want to wear basketball shorts and play at recess with the boys. Every kid grows up trying to understand the mold they have to fit into. Most girls grow up playing with barbies and dolls. Many boys grow up playing baseball, reading comics, and playing video games. Some girls may like to play outside with the boys simply because they think playing sports is more fun than playing with dolls. Personalities are developed based on society’s expectations of how boys and girls should
