During the medieval times, a good mind came from God and an evil one came from the Devil. Humans base good actions as being influenced by God, and negative actions as being influenced by the Devil..The choices that people make affect whether they are seen as good or evil.In the play Macbeth, William Shakespeare presents the societal view of men being strong, violent, and powerful while females are gentle, calming, and submissive. Shakespeare makes Macbeth, a man, gentle, kind hearted, and guiltful weak man, demonstrating a reversal in the gender roles. Shakespeare of the time uses the gender roles to present the effects of good and evil in Macbeth.
Firstly, Shakespeare shows Macbeth as a kind, gentle, and warm hearted man who cares about the king, and to whom he is very loyal. Macbeth claims “Glamis thou art, and cawdor, and shalt be/ What thou art promised. Yet do I fear my nature;/ It is too full o’ th’ milk human kindness,” showing this kindness (1.5.15-17). Macbeth’s loyalty to the king makes him struggle while choosing what to be influenced by.
