In the short story "Hills Like White Elephants," the author tells the reader the topic of conflict on page 636 when the American man tells Jig that it's a simple operation and not really an operation at all. Jig wanting to keep the baby while the American man wants to get rid of the problem they have. If the conflict of roles were switched and Jig favored to have an abortion and the American man did not, I'd feel differently since I do believe that a man has a saying in the decision making progress, since he has contributed to half of the fetuses DNA.
