What has caused the failure to converge IFRS and GAAP? Culture, gender, and demographics play a big role in the failure of convergence according to the articles I found. Gender has always had an impact on industries around the world but one industry we cannot afford to have bias or favoritism in is accounting. Businesses, investors, and citizens of the community rely heavily on the honesty and unbiased opinion of companies they give their money to. With the controversy over these two practices going on there is less and less reliability success in them. With the gender role it is obvious men have always been favored over women and the FASB have proved that, there has only been two women members since 1973. Even though this problem may seem

I asked a couple of male friends to take the Inventory. The results came out as expected for each of their personalities. I scored 38.3 in masculine, 73.3 in feminine, and 63.2 in androgynous out of 100 points. The BEM Inventory has major weaknesses because of how generic it is. The results can be manipulated easily with knowledge of basic gender roles.…

Gender effect in the Sierra Leone War Through Ishmael Beah and Mariatu Kamara’s autobiographies, the world learned about the devastating war in Sierra Leone through the eyes of a boy and a girl. The civil war stripped children from their families and killed many innocent civilians. In A Long Way Gone by Beah Beah he says, “One of the main aims of the rebels was to force the civilians to stay with them, especially women and children” (Beah 37). The rebels used the civilians as either bait for the army or as servants. They took girls to cook or exploit and recruited boys as soldiers.…

Established in 1887, the AIPCA serves as an advocate for CPAs, CGMAs, and has a mission of powering the success of global business, CPAs, and CGMAs through the use of education, resources, and advocacy (AICPA, 2016). Both “Low Goals and Safe Targets” By Linda Babcock and Sara Laschever, and “Disappearing Act: Where Have the Men Gone? No Place Good” by Michael Gurian discuss issues of gender disadvantage. In this excerpt from Babcock and Laschever 's book Women Don 't Ask: Negotiation and the Gender Divide, published in 2003, they discuss female disadvantage in salary negotiation. On the other hand, Gurian 's 2005 essay for the Washington Post delves into the issue of the decreasing numbers of male college students and how the education system is working against them. Overall, Babcock and Laschever produce a more convincing argument for their case than Gurian by having more clear and professional formatting, stronger emotional appeal, and more reliable sources.…

These three theories show the interaction between gender and race in the construction of thoughts concerning, and the interpretation of, the woman’s body. The first concept that affects how we view the woman’s body deals with relating the woman to the body.…

West and Zimmerman (1987) argue that the complex, socially guided activities that express masculine and feminine natures can be revealed in scholarly methods such as ethnomethodology and symbolic interactionism. West and Zimmerman (1987) indicate that the major argument of the doing gender theory presumes that social interactions and interpretations make social realities. Furthermore, social actors construct these realities and the realities later become accepted and are not questioned. According to West and Zimmerman (1987), the concept of doing gender shifts gender from the essentialist view of male and female as ascribed traits to viewing gender as a social process that is constantly redefined and negotiated in everyday interactions, a viewpoint…

One determining factor of ideology is gender. The apparent trend in the determinant is that women overall tend to favor liberal stances and Democratic candidates in elections, while men tend to favor conservative stances and Republican candidates. This is referred to as the gender gap. From my political compass and formed ideology, I am both socially and economically liberal and follow the gender gap trend. I believe my ideology is this way because the more liberal Democratic party values the individual rights of women along with gender equality, and will work more to ensuring myself and other women will have an equal chance in our futures as men.…
