Vaginoplasty is the procedure that creates the formation of a vagina and clitoris by using penile tissue or a colon graph. The clitoris is created by the head of the penis (glans penis), while the scrotum, testes removed, is used to create the labia. The penile skin can be used by being inverted to create a vagina. A vagina can also be created by using a colon graph. The tissue from the colon graph is self-lubricating, which can be bothersome as lubrication is always present. Postoperatively, a vaginal dilator must be used to maintain size and depth. Once fully recovered, and completely healed, transwomen can engage in penetrative sex with sensation and various levels.

Use of bathrooms based on gender identity is jurisdiction based. Some allow, while others have no allowance for grievance should someone be denied the use of a facility based on gender identification. Some businesses and medical offices have installed unisex bathrooms in an attempt to help minimize conflict and stress for transgender individuals. People who have undergone gender reassignment surgery will also have to have the gender listed on legal documents changed to reflect their new gender. Some governments require physician signatures for applicants who gender presentation or identity has changed. That being said, on June 10, 2010 the U.S. Department issued a policy stating that surgery is not a necessary prerequisite to changing the gender marker for the issuance of a U.S. Passport.
