Gender Roles play a major role today in our society, sometimes it can benefit a person in a positive way, setting a fashion trend to people of all ages in our society be it a male or female trend but it can also have a negative effect on us, we as people look to others especially those who are famous such as movie star actors or models, either way people are looked up to if they ‘fit our ideal image“. Sometimes it can affect people in a very negative way…be it gaining weight or wearing something which people don’t agreed with, unfortunately everyone is trying to fit into the ideal image of what we should like, for example men MUST have muscles, be good good-looking and be the bread winners whereas ladies MUST be able to cook, clean and be good house-wives. Our behaviour in which we act is actually corrupt.

Media can either act in a positive or negative manner, by being positive they can create awareness for all woman ensuring they are safely guarded at all times from possible discrimination and humiliation, or it can give all woman who dress “inappropriately” an even harder time and lead to further humiliation and discrimination. An example of a scenario which I am familiar with, an elderly lady whom of which was a nun and aged between her 60s and 70s was brutally assaulted and raped, my personal opinion on the matter is that regardless of what you wear, if men feel the need or the urge to feel more “empowered” by raping or discriminating a woman they unfortunately will do so, regardless of the dress
