Essay On Gender Neutral Restrooms

A “gender-neutral bathroom” is when a restroom is shared by both genders since it doesn’t have a specific gender. In the article, “Who’s Afraid Of Gender-Neutral Bathrooms?”, Jeannie Suk Gerson talks about how gender neutral restrooms would help transgender be more comfortable when choosing which restroom to use. He goes on explaining that some people don't want gender neutral bathrooms because they want to have privacy for women. They don't want their lives in danger, it’s a way to keep the predators out of the ladies bathroom. Also how men and women have do a lot of things together but when it comes to using the restroom together, they are so against it. She also mentions that for something like this to happen, gender neutral bathrooms, it would take time, it won’t happen overnight. So many building have restrooms build one way and it would take a lot of work to change everything all over the country.
Having separate restroom for men and women have been around since mankind. At first was to separate men and women because of their sexuality difference, but later on it was used to separate between races because they didn’t want to be in the same restrooms as black people. Being in

Why make people feel like they don’t belong where they are. America has made that mistake with immigrants and gays, you would think we learned from those mistakes and we would change the way we did things. Restrooms are meant to be used by everyone and it shouldn’t matter what gender you are. For example, in the article “In All-Gender Restrooms, the Signs Reflect the Times, Ball states that “ Many transgender people report planning their days around where and when they can go, enduring bladder infections if they hold it in, risking harassment or violence if they don’t.” We should give this gender neutral option to transgender people to make their lives

Most bathroom bills that have recently been proposed aim to make sure trans people can only use public bathrooms that match the sex indicated in their birth certificate. This means that a trans woman who was born male will not be allowed to use a female bathroom in a mall or a restaurant. It might seem like too much trouble to go through in an effort to limit a trans person’s use of the bathroom, but…

An article was written by Michael J. Broyde, published by CNN, and titled “Transgender Bathroom Issue: A Solution?”, gives a synopsis of the issue of letting people go into the bathroom of their identified gender, rather than just their birth gender. The article opens by just explaining how that this topic got into the limelight when the supreme court took up a case of a high school student trying to use a boy’s bathroom, and whether or not that should be allowed (Broyde). Broyde then goes on to explain that in many religions, including his own, using the bathroom is seen as an extreme private time and shouldn’t be shared with anyone regardless of gender. Then, Broyde gives what he believes to be the best solution to this problem is to make…

Therefore, a person should not be denied access to a bathroom that they feel they have a right to use it whether they identify as male or female. Secondly, people who argue against gender-neutral bathrooms suggest that gender-neutral bathrooms illustrate a lack of empathy towards men and woman who were victims of sexual assault or rape. For individuals who lived through such an experience may face some distress when exposed to the opposite gender in a bathroom.…

In Rocky Mountain Middle School, there are only bathrooms for men and women. We should have gender neutral bathrooms in our school. If we had gender neutral bathrooms in our school, it would make genderqueer (transgender and non-binary) questioning students and feel much safer and better represented in their own school. To begin, many genderqueer students feel unsafe in single gender restrooms, and the psychological effects are damaging. Going into single gender bathrooms can cause anxiety, fear, and other stresses for genderqueer students.…

I really don’t care if transgender people use the bathroom they identify with, they have been for years without it being a real problem. But pre transitioned transgenders are of a different topic. There has been so much controversy because essentially anyone who claims to be transgender will be able to use the restroom of their choice, and no one would be able to differentiate a true transgender person from someone who wants to use the other restroom. Gender neutral bathrooms seem like a good idea, but then there is the subject of rape which cannot ever be overlooked, it is far too important. This is a very grey area that I am truly glad is no longer in the hands of the federal government.…

Not washing your hands after going to the bathroom is my biggest pet peeve! Public bathrooms have thousands of germs all around, especially in the stall. It is extremely unsanitary and can take a negative impact on a person’s health to not wash away germs. By washing I mean using soap, not just water because the bubbles in the soap are what trap the germs for them to wash away. One time in the 3rd grade I did not wash my hands for about a week and a half because I wanted to see what would happen, and sure enough I got the flu.…

Transgender people should use the bathroom that matches their gender identity. It is unsafe for trans * people to go into the restroom that matches the gender they were born as. If a trans* male (ftm) were to go into the women’s restroom looking and passing as a cis male it could be very dangerous and/or chaotic. Women would most likely panic because you don’t always know when someone is trans* and they would think it’s just a man.…

Anyway, I'm 100% for the rights of trans people, or those who identify with a gender that doesn't correspond to their birth certificate, to use public bathrooms. That's not what this is about at all. All I ask is that they poo and pee in special containers that will be installed in every bathroom. Then, they can take their poo and pee home with them to be in their private big bowls. That way, none of us will have to have an uncomfortable situation where we're explaining to our pee and poo about the pee and poo from another gender having been in their big bowl.…

Unless there is an available gender-neutral or private bathroom many nonconforming people choose to be safe and neglect to use public restrooms. Even with the Americans with Disabilities Act, many people with disabilities have problems finding accessible restrooms that aren’t far out of the way. A few things that might hinder the accessibility of a restroom include, doors that are too narrow for a wheelchair, lack of grab bars, and unreachable soap dispensers, sinks, and paper…

According to Heartland Trans Wellness group, the segregation of bathroom can make people feel uncomfortable mostly in community colleges and public school where many students had to face either harassment or bullying while using a binary bathroom. Aside from that when it comes to a single parent’s having a child of the opposite sex can be difficult, for the fact that kids can’t hold in their pee and parents don’t know whether to take their kids to either a male or female bathroom or should they just let their kids go on their own to use the bathroom. It also comes down to families that have a disabled person in the family. Some have care givers and some don’t, and some are also the opposite sex that is attending the person with disabilities.…

By allowing males and females into places where they don’t belong, students of both parties are at risk of sexual harassment or even rape in the worst-case scenario. Students could see the school’s acceptance of transgender individuals as a prime opportunity to abuse that kindness for their own twisted gains. This argument is invalid because there is always the possibility of sexual assault wherever you go. If a student truly wants to harm another, they will do so no matter the circumstances. Sexual assault cases would have very little difference from what is current as long as the school took the proper precautions to ensure the safety of their students-- which they should already be…

Transgender Americans should be allowed to use the restroom of the gender they identify with. The number of anti-transgender bills has been increasing, and is higher now in 2015 than any other year. This wave of legislation seems to be in response to the advances made in state non-discrimination policies that protect transgender people (Daileda). The opposition has proposed many bills that are unfair to transgender people: So-called “bathroom bills” introduced by social conservatives…typically mandate that…
