Looking for examples of gender and gender roles in a common setting requires little interaction. Mostly done subconsciously, we regulate what we give ourselves and what we give others. Gender does play a role in the allotted space around us. The symbolic relation of being near the “sameness” of our own can regulate average things such as where someone would sit on a bus. Often public transportation can show people grouping based off gender when possible. If there is a seat next to a man and one next to a woman it is likely the next passenger would chose the seat near their gender. This symbolic community within a gender can dictate these subconscious interactions. It even starts at a young age. When teachers want to cut down on noise in class they would often sit children alternating based off gender, when people are young they feel more comfortable with their own gender and are more likely to relax and talk. While I would not say the space you consciously regulate is the biggest proponent of gender indicating a symbolic interaction, I would say the subconscious interactions such as where a person positions themselves in a public place are more telling of the symbolic interactions we chose and are imposed on
